Wiping Out

Wiping Out

Wiping out - little double meaning in the title here, which I do love. (I love this spainting, too!)

Firstly, it's all about that moment as a sea swimmer when you're up to your waist in the cold water, not quite ready to get in, and you turn around and see this, and you know you're going to be tumbled over, lose your woolly hat, and be thoroughly wiped out.

Secondly, it's all about the way this is painted. This all about using thin layers then wiping out the paint using thinner, old socks, torn up t-shirts, any scratchy material that comes to hand to create those liquid water falling shapes on the canvas.
